The former Latasa station is a fine example of the railway heritage associated with the Plazaola Railway a two-storey stone and brick building originally featuring an adjoining goods shed and an 8,500-litre water tank. After the line closed, the building was converted into a residence.
The Plazaola Railway was initially designed to transport ore from the Bizkotx (Plazaola) mines to Andoain North Station, where it connected with the Northern Railway for transport to the port of Pasajes. The Plazaola–Andoain section opened in 1905; from 1914 the line also carried passengers between Pamplona and San Sebastián. Its complex infrastructure included 40 bridges and 66 tunnels. The ground floor housed the station office, waiting room and toilets; the upper floor was the stationmaster's residence. The building is now a private residence, while the goods warehouse is a bar-restaurant.
