The Baztan Way of St James, though less well known than the French Way, is one of the oldest and most peaceful pilgrimage routes ideal for those seeking quiet immersion in history. A historic route linking France and Navarre, used by pilgrims arriving via the Bayonne Pass and entering Navarre at Urdazubi/Urdax, as well as by medieval merchants and armies. Remains of a Roman road can still be seen at the Belate Pass.
