Leitzalarrea is an exceptional area of great natural importance. Mainly beech and oak woodland with abundant pastures, its waters flow into the Leitzaran and Urumea river basins. The megalithic monuments scattered throughout bear witness to ancient habitation; centuries of mining activity have left numerous remains of ruins and ironworks. The Izaieta fir tree legally protected as a Natural Monument, dating from 1832 stands in what has become a veritable botanical garden with 37 identified tree species. The area also offers visits to Aritzaundi and Aitzmurdi. Facilities include car parking, information panels and a picnic area.
