Colonial buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries, with the "Palace" as the main attraction, offer a unique historical and architectural insight.

Located within the town centre of Areso, the 'Indianos' houses' are 19th- and 20th-century buildings constructed by local people who made their fortunes in the Americas, chiefly Domingo Nazabal and Domingo Aranalde. They are notable for their colonial style, with the 'Palace' being the most striking building, alongside the Igalde house and the former municipal school.
